About

Hey there, it’s me, Taressa! As a wife, home schooling mom, horsewoman, potter, forager, writer, life long learner of sorts, aka dabbler.. I’ve decided to organize a bit of what I do on a website! I’m not real techie, and I prefer genuine, in-person interaction, so please bear with me as I learn how to maneuver and manage a website.

I started doing pottery in 2021. My main motivation was to be able to create and share special, handmade items, with sentimental value. My grandma, whom many knew as “Nannie,” passed away after graciously influencing this world for 98 years. She was so strong, loving, and uniting. I’m incredibly blessed to have experienced having her as my Nannie, and seen her set such amazing examples in life. One small thing that I received of hers after her passing was a metal heart cookie cutter. It was warped, and shabby, and beautiful. While I don’t specifically remember ever making heart cookies at Nannie’s, I do sure remember many meals from her kitchen. She could make the best coconut cream pie! We grew up eating Sunday dinner with Nannie after church. It’s a cherished memory and tradition that my mom (aka, my kids’ “Nana”) has now wonderfully continued for her kids and grandkids. Anywaysss, back to the heart cookie cutter… With receiving this small piece from Nannie’s kitchen, I knew I wanted to make something special for my whole family with it. That something special ended up becoming heart shaped Christmas ornaments, that I carved variations of “Nannie’s cookie” into. My first pottery pieces, in my $50 marketplace sitter kiln, turned out so imperfectly perfect. It only recently occurred to me to start signing my pieces with a heart after my name, in memory of Nannie, and the first pieces I made at home.

Since then, I have mostly made pottery pieces to give as gifts, with sentimental value. I’ve recently began creating pottery more frequently, with a knee injury redirecting life from my horse training path. So, here I am! I am one that likes to be active mentally and physically, and I enjoy seeing the results of hard work- whether that be a healthy relationship with a well trained horse, or a beautiful piece of pottery that started out as a lump of clay. It’s really neat to experience how creating is a gift our creator gave us! We are made in his image.
